Our business model is simple. BCP
supports the Do-It-Yourself company (large or small) in building a
Disaster Recovery or Contingency Plan.
We provide the Risk Assessment and
Impact Studies and then help the company build their plan based on the
lessons learned in the two assessments. If requested we can also
provide training materials including pertinent table top exercises.
We do this quickly and inexpensively
and can be done online so as to minimize the cost of travel and
accommodations.
We have two sides of the planning
process covered, both the IT side and the business side, and we support
the senior manager or in house planner who has been assigned to develop
the companies CP/DR plan.
Depending on the areas selected the
analysis report we produce can be as big as 170 plus pages, or as small
as 25. It is all dependent on the requirements of the client.
We also support the professional
CP/DR consultant by supplying them with tools and expertise that they
can add to the capabilities of their company.
Why did we choose this model.
Because while companies are cutting costs the need to plan for the
sudden or unexpected disaster is still there. The threats are not a
continuous ongoing operation however. Only the plan and the training is
occasional . Once the risks facing the company are identified, and the
impact that those risk would have are determined, then the rest of the
plan is geared into mitigating or eliminating the risk. You don’t need
to have a full time staff member or consultant to show you how to do
this. You need the occasional advisor. But that is like having your
attorney to guide you over the legal humps but not be a part of your
daily operations.
If the risk cannot be determined or
taken away, such as that associated with natural disasters, then
planning steps are taken to cover the expected loss or to move the
company from away from the risk. The example here is that you selected
a building next to the levee in New Orleans. The recommendation is to
move your company to a safer location. If – during the impact study
part of the planning process, you decide not to move the company, then
mitigation should include life boats and a good insurance policy with
flood protection.
WHY US?
The logic that drives our consulting practice is what small
business needs, and similar to
what small business owners are used to. Only paying for what you need -
when you need it.
Many other professions use similar methodologies, like your
attorney or CPA, but the average
business owner does not think of them for the contingency planning consulting
requirements. We do.
We guide you through your overall
planning and recovery processes through weekly
or daily conference calls. We are here when you need us, and we only bill
you for the time when our expertise is used. We lower the cost
of contingency planning while still providing you with the best advise
available.
In some cases, for small companies we can be called upon to
eliminate the need for a full-time contingency planner or, we can help establish
or fortify an existing planning team in a larger organizations, but we are
always available for that occasion when you do need onsite expertise and
assistance in order to develop your plan. If that time ever occurs, you
will find our consulting rates to be reasonable and what you would expect to
pay.
